Artist Statement
My photographic practice explores the relationship between light, water and atmosphere.
I am drawn to moments when familiar environments become uncertain when reflections distort, surfaces dissolve and changing light transforms what is visible.
Through observation and experimentation, I explore the space between representation and abstraction, looking for subtle transformations that reveal something unexpected within ordinary surroundings.
Short Bio
Sofya Ismayilova is a Fine Art student based in Aberdeen, Scotland, with a background in architecture and design. Her photography has received recognition in Robert Gordon University’s Biodiversity Photography Competitions, including First Place and Highly Commended distinction.
